Hmmm I cannot remember what the pumpkins looked like for each winner's number. It would have been nice to post the pumpkins with the winners. But I do want to say thank you StartSampling for the contest. It was fun!

First you didn't have to include any comment with your vote. Second, I think two photos should be submitted - a photo of the pumpkin in the daylight and a photo at night. I think one of the pumpkin entries was actually a stained-glass type decoration - not a carved pumpkin whatsoever. It looked very similar to something in one of the stores where I shopped at for this year's Halloween decorations. I also think that entries should have some guidelines for voting - originality of design and the appropriate sized pumpkin (some designs are made for tall pumpkins whereas others are made for a wider and shorter pumpkin).

you should let members pick the finialists and then pick the winner from that group. i only saw the finialists and i agree i thought boy the other ones were bad

I agree. Next year the contest without the comments. Looks like all the finalists put A LOT of time and effort into their pumpkins. A job well done! Pattern or no pattern!

The votes depended on how many people were able to vote that day. I suggest next year put all the pictures up at once and give at least a full week for everyone to log in and vote.

I would not vote for any of the finalists. The best entries never made it to the final 5. Who picked these things? None of the finalists took any real effort. Some of the entries were so good, took some work and imagination and they didn't stand a chance.
